Terms of Service
Last updated: July 31, 2026
These terms govern your use of JoltFile. We've written them to be readable; the short version is that your files stay yours, you use the converter lawfully and fairly, and you verify output before relying on it.
1. What JoltFile is
JoltFile ("the Service") is a web-based file-conversion tool that converts images, video, audio, and documents between supported formats. Conversions are performed in your browser or, for a small number of format pairs, on our servers as described in the Privacy Policy. By using the Service you agree to these Terms of Service.
2. Your files stay yours
You retain all rights to the files you convert. Converting a file with the Service grants us no ownership, license, or rights over your content beyond the transient technical permission needed to perform the conversion you requested. We claim no copyright in your input files or your converted output.
You are responsible for having the right to convert the files you submit. Do not use the Service to process content you have no right to use, or content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Convert or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, or harmful
- Attempt to probe, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Circumvent rate limits, file-size limits, or other technical restrictions
- Use automated tooling to abuse the free tier in a way that degrades the Service for others
- Misrepresent the Service's output as a certified, notarized, or legally validated document
4. Free tier and future paid plans
Everyday conversions are currently free, without an account. We may introduce paid plans with higher limits and additional features, and we may adjust free-tier limits with reasonable notice on this page. Features described as free at the time you use them will not be retroactively charged.
5. No warranty on conversion output
File conversion involves format-specific trade-offs. We work hard to make defaults sensible and to document what each conversion does to quality, but the Service is provided 'as is' and 'as available', without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose.
Always verify converted output before relying on it, and keep your original files. This is doubly important for documents with legal, financial, or medical significance, where you should confirm that content, pagination, and formatting survived conversion as expected.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ${site.name} and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service — including lost data, lost profits, or decisions made in reliance on converted output. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for free-tier users, is zero).
7. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or remove supported formats and features over time; material reductions in functionality will be announced on this site before they take effect.
8. Governing terms and contact
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and ${site.name} regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force.
